Sample course-by-course evaluation for María Fernanda Ruiz Delgado

What a credential evaluation is

A credential evaluation explains a degree earned outside the United States in U.S. terms. It names the closest U.S. equivalent, such as a bachelor's or master's degree, so a school, employer, licensing board or immigration officer can understand what you studied without knowing your country's education system.

Which evaluation do you need?

Diploma evaluation

$19.95 per degree

This states the U.S. equivalent of your degree, for example "equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering." It's usually enough for employment, H-1B and other immigration petitions where the question is simply whether you hold the equivalent degree.

Course-by-course evaluation

$39.95 per degree

This lists every course on your transcript with its U.S. semester hours and letter grade, plus an overall GPA. Universities, community college transfers and many licensing boards (nursing, teaching, accounting and engineering, for example) usually ask for this one.

If you're not sure, check the requirements of whoever will receive the report. When they ask for semester hours, grades or a GPA, you need course-by-course.

Common uses

  • Employment and H-1B petitions

showing a foreign degree equals a U.S. bachelor's or higher

  • University admission and transfer credit

    course-by-course with GPA

  • Professional licensing

state boards usually set their own requirements, so check the board's instructions first

  • Jobs and promotions

employers that need proof of a degree level

What to upload

  • Your diploma or degree certificate

  • Your full transcript or mark sheets (required for course-by-course)

  • Translations, if your documents aren't in English. We can translate them at $9.95 a page on the same invoice.

Frequently asked questions

Will my school or licensing board accept this evaluation?

It depends on who's receiving it. Some universities and boards accept only evaluations from specific member organizations, so check their instructions before you order.

Do I need a translation too?

If any of your documents aren't in English, yes. Add a certified translation at $9.95 a page and it goes on the same invoice.

What's the difference between a diploma and a course-by-course evaluation?

A diploma evaluation names the U.S. equivalent of your degree. A course-by-course evaluation also converts each course into U.S. semester hours and grades and calculates a GPA.

When do I get the report?

You pay the flat fee first. A credential evaluator reviews the documents, and we email you when the report is ready. Staff sign off before the report is released.

Preview the report before you pay.

Upload a diploma or transcript. You'll get a watermarked preview, and staff sign off before the final report is released.
